ASA Events
ISITA is an affiliate organization of the African Studies Association (ASA), the largest globally represented membership organization in the world dedicated to enhancing the exchange of knowledge and information about Africa.
ISITA and the Islam in Africa Studies Group (a coordinate organization of the ASA) actively collaborate to strengthen academic networks and build community at the ASA Annual Meetings.
In 2025, ISITA and the IASG organized an "Islam in Africa New Books Showcase," featuring authors of recently published books in the field.
At the 2026 Annual Meeting (New Orleans, LA, December 3-6, 2026), ISITA and IASG will sponsor a session to announce the inaugural Islam in Africa Book Award winner.
